Reflecting a sustained community commitment, Charles Clement’s organization recently announced a $25,000 donation to the Sitka Community Land Trust’s (SCLT) Affordable Housing Fair.

SEARHC’s contributed funds are targeted at developing affordable housing located at the Old City Shops lot on Halibut Point Road. The property has been allocated by the City of Sitka as a location where seven cottages will be built.
As reported by KCAW, the $25,000 donation will be used to cover the cost of clearing debris from the site and completing preconstruction preparation. The aim is to provide affordable housing for younger members of the community, including teachers, nurses, and police officers, that will enable them to remain in the local area and build lives and families. The price for the cottages will start at under $200,000 for a one-room residence.
